A JOURNEY INTO OUR HISTORY FROM THE SEABED
For Bahía de Mazarrón and the Mazarrón Phoenician Ship Interpretation Centre, we told the story of a Phoenician ship that spent centuries under the sand of the bay, and the work it took to bring it back to the surface.
The piece brings together heritage, memory and outreach: it shows how the wreck is recovered from the seabed and explains why it is so valuable for understanding who sailed and traded along these coasts thousands of years ago.
UNDER THE WATER AND OVER THE BAY
We got into the water with the excavation team to follow every stage of the recovery: the divers working on the wreck, the platform on the surface and the transfer of the pieces to the shore. We rounded it off with aerial shots of the bay and footage that takes viewers into the world of the Phoenician navigators.
In the edit we alternated the rigour of the scientific process with a cinematic tone, and the grade links the turquoise of the seabed with the warm tones of maps and ancient navigation.
